About this Month’s Cover
Thereโs nothing like a piano, except for a painting of one or a sampled one.
This monthโs cover is in the former category, and itโs by Dr. Ulrich Batzdorf. Weโre featuring it because software pianos are the backbone of almost every musicianโs instrument arsenal. They blend perfectly with synths and every other instrument, and the ear never tires of them.
Of course, the ideal is a well-maintained acoustic piano thatโs perfectly in tune, recorded well in a great room. But those are big and expensive caveats, and in fact, most of the excellent plug-in pianos available today have it all over an acoustic piano that falls short in either area.
