Impact Soundworks Boobams Sample Library

No it’s not bamboo for people who like to transpose syllables, it’s a pitched percussion instrument

You’ll probably recognize the sound of boobams when you hear the demos. Impact Soundworks claims this is the first time this very cool instrument has been sampled (commercially, we presume?), and believe it or not they’re probably right.

Here’s the company bumph:

Welcome to the first-ever Boobams sample library, a “secret weapon” tonal percussion instrument long-coveted by Hollywood composers for its powerful attack and punctuating timbre. Featuring famed Hollywood percussionist and drummer M.B. Gordy.

WHAT ARE BOOBAMS?

Constructed of rectangular bamboo tubes of varying sizes, Boobams have a woody sound that can range from tight and punchy to more full-bodied. They have a long history in Hollywood (appearing in Planet of the Apes and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, among others), and they’re perfect for film, game, and TV scores.

This library started as a collaboration between acclaimed Hollywood percussionist and drummer M.B. Gordy and game, film, and TV composer Lennie Moore. When Lennie reached out to us about joining this collaboration, we were thrilled — and now we’re excited to be sharing it with you.

THE WORLD’S FIRST BOOBAMS SAMPLE LIBRARY

    • Sampled with four hit types (implements) — fingers, hot rods, mallets, and sticks

    • Expanded range from original two octaves to three (C2 to C5)

    • Included Ensemble mode uses 2-4 hit types for an epic sound

    • Versatile and functional as either a rhythmic or melodic element

    • Cuts through any mix thanks to well-defined transients

MB Gordy Percussion: Boobams is now available for Kontakt Player at a special introductory price of $49 (MSRP $59).
