Should You Update to macOS Ventura?

Published

Look before you leap, because haste makes waste and an Apple update another day keeps the doctor away

Apple released a new version of macOS on Monday, called Ventura. It is safe to update?

The only company that has circulated an email – as far as we know – warning about macOS Ventura is Cherry Audio, who are working on updates to their (really great) softsynths and processing plug-ins. They say do NOT update yet, and it seems unlikely that they’re alone.

So in the place of sage advice (such as ALWAYS MAKE BACKUPS BEFORE YOU UPDATE ANYTHING), we offer some time-tested food for thought:

  • The Apple computer doesn’t fall far from the tree, but for heaven’s sake don’t drop it
  • Do not strike while this iron is hot (wait for it to cool down)
  • The early bird catches the worm, and you don’t want worms
  • Haste makes waste
  • Look before you leap
  • Good things come to those who wait
  • Curiosity killed the cat and the music software
  • It’s better to be safe than sorry, we’re sorry to say
  • It’s easy to be wise after the event, but we suggest being wise before it
  • Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today, except for this
  • Time and tide wait for no man, but man, you really want to wait
  • An Apple update another day keeps the doctor away (no offense to doctors)
  • Hindsight is better than 4/4
  • Forewarned is forearmed, but use your fingers
  • After the feast comes the reckoning
  • He who hesitates is lost, but so is she who installs Ventura without checking her software for compatibility

Please come back often for more sage advice from people like us with idle hands.
