Sequential Founder Dave Smith Talks About the Pro 3 Monosynth
In an exclusive interview with Synth and Software, pioneering synth designer Dave Smith discusses the new Sequential Pro 3 monophonic synthesizer and other topics.
Sequential’s Pro 3 was an undisputed hit of the 2020 NAMM Show that took place from January 16 through 19 in Anaheim, California. At the show, Sequential invited me to their hotel suite to talk with Dave about their new instrument, which has three kinds of filters, two kinds of oscillators, and plenty of other features that make it unique. During our 15-minute conversation, we discussed how the Pro 3 differs from other Sequential synths, the timeline for developing new instruments, MIDI 2.0 and MPE, and how he hires and relates to other Sequential team members. Dave even hints at a new product Sequential plans to debut later in 2020.
