Published

This year’s event featured eight performers and seven nationalities.

This past weekend, September 6–8, provided electronic musicians with several opportunities to rub elbows with their peers, perform their music, and learn about new gear. This year’s edition of KnobCon took place in Schaumburg, Illinois, while in Homer, New York, musicians and audiences assembled for NEEMfest, the North East Electro-Music Festival. Meanwhile, on the other side of the Atlantic, the municipal library in Palmela, Portugal, played host to 3EEE, the third Encontro Europeu de Música Electrónica (European Meeting of Electronic Music).

António Machado, an outstanding electronic music composer and performer from Portugal, submitted the photos posted below. He described the event as a meeting of friends, musicians, and developers that gave participants a chance to share musical moments, ideas, and inspiration. The weekend’s theme was expression in electronic music using MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) instruments, MPE controllers, and modular synthesizers. 3EEE also gave some attendees their first glimpse of the La Voix du Luthier Onde, an acoustic transducer for electronic instruments unveiled in Paris at ContinuuCon 2018.
