Paired with the EaganMatrix, the Osmose is a keyboard synth like no other.

Along with introducing a radical new type of keyboard controller, Expressive E’s Osmose is the first keyboard instrument to incorporate the EaganMatrix synthesis engine. Composer, sound designer, and software developer Edmund Eagan, in cooperation with inventor and University of Illinois professor Lippold Haken, developed the EaganMatrix as the internal sound engine for the Haken Continuum Fingerboard. Because it was designed with multidimensional expressive performance in mind, it’s the perfect sound engine for MPE controllers. That includes the Continuum and the Osmose, which were both designed to be as expressive as acoustic instruments.

Last November, we reported that Expressive E was taking advance orders for the as-yet-unreleased Osmose, and they quickly took all the orders they could handle. At the time, Expressive E planned to begin filling those orders this summer, with another round expected to ship in the fall. Since then, however, Covid-19 has caused inevitable and unavoidable delays in acquiring parts from Chinese component suppliers. Consequently, shipments of those pre-orders are expected to begin in the fall.
